JACKSON MAC LOW writes poems, performance works, essays,
plays, and radio works, and is a composer, painter, and multimedia performance
artist. Since 1954 he has developed new ways of writing, composing,
and performing, often employing "nonintentional" procedures.
Some recent publications are 42 Merzgedichte in Memoriam Kurt Schwitters
(Station Hill, 1994), Barnesbook (Sun & Moon, 1994) and the
compact disc Open Secrets (Experimental Intermedia XI-110, 1993).
This bio was lifted nearly verbatim from the recent anthology (May
1996) American Poets Say Goodbye to the 20th Century
which includes work by Mac Low as well as a number of other contributors
to this issue of $lavery.
