Ted Berrigan circa 1978

Ted Berrigan sped through the lives of perhaps thousands of poets bringing inspiration, laughter, eclectic erudition, mischief, fun, gossip, tricks, baseball and other great stuff.  Non-stop talker, teacher and troublemaker, his speech was often pure genius poetry. Ted's infectious inflection still echoes in the speech and writing of numerous friends, students and colleagues.  He loved to collaborate with artists and Chapter 2 was one of a series (of many series of works) he composed with painter George Schneeman.

Ted's sudden death on July 4, 1983 left a huge vacuum in the NorthAmerican poetry world, especially in NewYork City.
